How to attach it
Attach the pattern to the verb stem, which is the dictionary form without 다. Compare how each verb below changes depending on its last sound.
| Dictionary form | Meaning | With this pattern | Romanization |
|---|---|---|---|
| 보다 | to see, to watch | 보다시피 | bodasipi |
| 읽다 | to read | 읽다시피 | ikdasipi |
| 하다 | to do | 하다시피 | hadasipi |
| 살다 | to live | 살다시피 | saldasipi |
What changes
- This ending attaches directly to the stem. Nothing changes, whether the stem ends in a vowel or a consonant.
Explanation
여러분도 아시다시피 내일부터 이 도로는 공사로 통제됩니다.
“-다시피” means “as (you) know / as (you) can see” and introduces something the listener already knows or sees; it combines mostly with verbs like 알다, 보다 (아시다시피, 보시다시피). The sentence means “As you all know, traffic on this road will be restricted for construction starting tomorrow.” “-자마자” means “as soon as ~” and cannot be used to introduce shared knowledge.
